Decluttering Sentimental Items: 8 Tips to Make the Process Easier

Sentimental photos and memorabilia are often the hardest things to declutter in our homes. These items hold special memories and emotions that are difficult to part with. It can be overwhelming to decide what to keep and what to let go of, but with a few tips, you can make the process easier.
1. Set a goal
Before you start decluttering sentimental items, set a goal for yourself. This will help you stay focused and motivated throughout the process. Decide how much space you want to free up or how many items you want to get rid of.
2. Take inventory
Take stock of all your sentimental photos and memorabilia before starting the decluttering process. Group them by categories such as old letters, ticket stubs, photographs etc., so that they are easier to work through.
3. Start small
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when facing years’ worth of accumulated stuff so it is better if one starts small; take out one box at a time instead of taking everything out at once, that way there won’t be any mess around while sorting things out.

8. Donate or Gift
If there are sentimental items that you no longer want to keep, consider donating them to a museum or gifting them to someone who will appreciate them more than you do. This way these precious possessions do not go into oblivion and are still cherished by others even if it’s not with us.
